There is already a British SME supply chain that exists to service the onshore oil and gas industry, but most people could be forgiven for not appreciating this.
The debate around the development of Britain’s onshore hydrocarbon resources has so far been dominated by talk of oil majors and headlines framed around a handful of well-known exploration companies.
And yet it’s the supply chain where most of the real opportunities lie, with the consultancy EY predicting that a mature shale gas industry, for example, could one day be worth £33 billion and responsible for over 64,000 jobs.
The Onshore Energy Services Group aims to give British supply chain SMEs a louder voice, a more visible presence in the debate about how we meet our future energy needs, and a better chance of securing a fair share of the supply chain roles that are on offer.
