Cuadrilla plans decision looms
Lancashire County Council has announced dates for determining planning applications submitted by Cuadrilla Resources for two shale gas exploration sites in Lancashire.
The applications relating to the Preston New Road site are scheduled to be decided at a meeting to begin at 10.00am on Wednesday 28 January. The applications relating to the Roseacre Wood site are scheduled to be decided at a meeting to begin at 10.00am on Thursday 29 January. Friday 30 January has also been set aside for the continuation of the committee meetings in case a decision has not been reached on previous days.
The council’s planners have been working since the applications were received in June to consult with the public and other statutory agencies, and assess the applications, to ensure all the information needed to determine them is put before the Development Control Committee. Reports to be considered by the committee will be published on the Lancashire County Council website on Wednesday 21 January.
A Cuadrilla spokesperson said: “We are looking forward to a final determination for both applications in January 2015.”
